Brebu monastery
Dating from XVth century, Brebu Village is located 7km north of Campina city, near Telega and Doftana. It's name comes from breb (beaver), sweet water animal common to the area three hundred years ago.
The Medieval Complex from Brebu, dating from the XVIII century, is located in the center of the village and was built by Matei Basarab ruler as a monastery and a summer residence.
The Complex is composed of three buildings: the tower bell, of 27 meters in height - one of the most beautiful and well preserved in the country, the royal summer house and the church - monastery, jewels of Brancoveanu style architecture.
Brebu lake, near the complex, appeared in the place of the old monastery dating before 1641.
How to get there?
By car from Bucharest on DN1 until Campina, in the center of the Campina city there is a sign to the right for Brebu, Telega, Doftana. Go straight (do not turn left towards Doftana Valley), cross the bridge over Doftana and take a turn to the left immediatly after the bridge, and climb the curbs at the enterance to Brebu.Where to stay?
